Statutory Deductions
Q: Are uniform and laundry allowances taxable?
Yes, uniform and laundry allowances have been taxable since January 1995. However, there are some categories of workers who are exempt from these deductions, such as police officers, nurses, firemen, security guards, airline workers, military personnel, doctors, and bus drivers.
Exemption limits are as follows:

Uniforms - $5,739 per year.

Laundry - $3,395 per year.
